March 17 - April 4
Virtual
Alex and Paula Ogeka on behalf
of their son Logan Ogeka
Thank you for supporting our fifth annual One Shining Moment for Bardet-Biedl Syndrome Final Four fundraiser. All funds raised from this event will support the Bardet-Biedl Syndrome Foundation (EIN: 46-3343666). We decided the best way to bring back the event in 2022 is to host it virtually and start planning on welcoming you all back in person to Kutztown University in April of 2023!
Before we share the exciting news, MANY have asked how our guest of honor is doing since our last OSM event. We are happy to share that Logan is doing GREAT! Mr. Logan will be turning 9 on March 22nd and is currently a third grader at Green Valley Elementary School. As his teacher Ms. H. tells us on our monthly calls, Mr. Logan has been a ROCKSTAR! He continues to make great strides in school and he is now speaking full sentences with the help of an assistant speech device. He continues to get great services for speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and on-going vision and mobility training. We are happy to report that Logan has been in school for the entire duration of the pandemic and we can see the great strides he has made in his education during the last two years.
We are blessed to report that Logan’s health has remained good (so no news is good news at this point!).
Lastly, you might remember the BBS Foundation was helping to fund research in hopes of stoping the progression of blindness in those that have BBS10 (which is the gene that affects Logan). We are happy to report that because of your past support of OSM and other fundraisers, we were able to provide the researchers financial support to keep their research moving forward during the pandemic. As a result, there is a team that is currently working on therapeutics (based on this research) that could start human testing in 2023! I know this is truly amazing to think that in 2016 we never thought that there was hope. Now we have hope that our son will not lose his vision moving forward.
As we mentioned, OSM22 will be virtual this year. We have decided that we will be offering the opportunity for all of you to support Logan and the BBS community by offering a NCAA Tournament pool and a silent auction. More information can be found below.
Thank you all again for you support! We could not have achieved these break through’s without your support. We are forever grateful.

$50.00 a block
A grid of 10x10 blocks will be created with random numbers (0-9) assigned down the side (Winner) and across the top (Loser). The numbers assigned will be associated with the last number of both the winning and losing number of each tournament game. Each paid entry will then be randomly assigned a box. Once the box is complete, the winning and losing numbers will be assigned.
Based on the winning and losing number of each game will determine the winner. Example: if the game ends 88-82. The block associated with Winner 8, Loser 2 will be the winner.
The entry fee covers the entire 63 games of the tournament and entries can win multiple times. Does not include any play-in games. You’re not out of contention in this pool if there are upsets.
